ARTS OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD

Bringing the latest technology to the museum experience, the Arts of the Islamic World virtual museum will provide a global audience with free access to a technologically innovative medium for viewing and learning about arts from across the Islamic world.

AIW is assembling an extensive online resource of digital images of Islamic art to permit viewers unprecedented access to art objects from private, university and museum collections at the national and international levels. The scope of the virtual museum extends across a range of historical Islamic empires; from the Middle East at its advent in the 7th century, to southern Spain and North Africa to Central Asia and China at its height, and up to the present.

This virtual gallery and study center is designed to serve the needs of diverse audience from the casual browser, to the student, teacher, curator, connoisseur or scholar; anyone seeking to locate, view and learn about arts from the Islamic world.
