The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation (SDRF) is a family foundation based in New York City that began operation in 1995. Our three main areas of activity are: Arts and Culture, Health and Human Services, and Civil Liberty and Social Justice. Our geographic domains are primarily, though not restricted to, the Himalayan region and the New York City metropolitan area.
SDRF's mission is to support innovative efforts to make social organizations and institutions more effective and more responsive to a broad range of human needs. With our diverse portfolio of initiatives we seek to aid in the transformation and empowerment of communities and to give all citizens a voice and a role in shaping their future.
SDRF interests include, but are not limited to: public health and sanitation; education; support for new media; preservation of traditional and local artisans and their economies; AIDS and its effects on society's institutions; and at risk children and families.
We have a longstanding commitment to the promotion and celebration of Himalayan art.
